Q. Why should I hire a professional for hair and makeup?

A. There are so many things to worry about on your wedding day. What your makeup and hair will look like, who is going to do it, will it last and various other questions related to beauty should not be one of them. Makeup and hair are a few of the things that will live on forever in your pictures from the most important day of your life, and it is important that a professional apply that makeup. Blend Artistry artists are knowledgeable in products that will work best with your skin to last all day with minimal touch ups required. Our artists are also trained to make sure that the best colors and products are used to suit your skin tone and type.

Q. Is a trial run important before the wedding day?

A. A trial run will give you a great opportunity to discuss with me what you have in mind for your special day. You can bring photos, magazine pages, or just explain how you would like your makeup and hair to look. This is will give you the chance to get opinions from friends, family or even see how it photographs, in case there are any changes you would like made. Our artists will record all the products and colors used, and take a picture of your finished makeup to ensure you will receive the same results on your wedding day. Having a successful trial run will allow you to be stress free, and completely relaxed on your actual wedding day, knowing your makeup and hair will look exactly how you envisioned.

Q. What kind of products do you use?

A. All of the products our artists’ use are camera friendly. The products do not contain SPF or ingredients in the powder/foundation that could change the way you look in a photo. We do carry products with SPF, but do not recommend using them with flash photography, because those certain products will reflect the flash of a camera, making your face appear lighter than it really is. We use professional skin care and makeup, and we are always updating my products with the newest and longest lasting products available. Our artists’ kits consist of makeup from MAC, MAKE UP FOR EVER, Temptu Airbrush, Chanel, Laura Mercier, and Smashbox to name a few. By using nothing but the best products, along with our skills and knowledge, you will receive a long lasting flawless finish with every application.

Q. Is there anything I need to do to prepare for my wedding day?

A. We recommend using a good skin care regimen including an eye cream daily. We also recommend drinking a lot of water to hydrate the skin. Please schedule any waxing/threading appointments at least 5-7 days prior to your wedding day. This will insure the makeup will completely adhere to your skin, and will go on smoothly. Some women tend to get irritation or redness due to sensitivities to the wax/threading, and we want to make sure none of that happens so close to your big day!

Q. What if I have a big bridal party, how many makeup applications can you do in one day?

We are able to accommodate very large parties, as we have a growing team of 18 artists. The sooner you book, and give us final numbers, the easier it is for us to guarantee we have artists secure for your date. We contract only the best artists, with equal training and artistic skills. We will send you an agenda of what times each application needs to be started in order to finish by your expected time, and to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Q. How do I book Blend Artistry and how is payment handled?

A. Once you decide to book with Blend Artistry, a 25% non-refundable deposit is due to reserve your date. This deposit will get deducted from your total for your wedding or event services. The deposit invoice is sent and paid through PayPal. The total for your wedding or event will be due 30 days prior. The balance can be paid through PayPal, and you will have the opportunity leave your artist gratuity via Venmo or in cash the day of your wedding or event. Gratuity is not included in our prices.

Q. I love your portfolio! When should I book my wedding day services or event?

A. We would love for you to book your wedding day as soon as you have your date set. Most brides book 6 to 12 months out.

Q. Do you come to me on my wedding day?

A. Yes, we require a minimum of 4 applications to come on-location. The 5 applications can be any combination of hair and makeup services. Our prices include travel to you at your location within a 30-mile radius of our salon space in Hyde Park Square. If your location exceeds the 30 miles, we will charge the standard IRS mileage reimbursement rate for any miles that exceed 30 round trip per artist that we send.

Q. When should I book my hair and/or makeup trial?

A. We recommend booking your trial runs approximately 2-3 months prior to your wedding date.

Q. May I do a trial run before I commit?

A. Absolutely! We want you to be 100% sure of your decision. Please keep in mind that we cannot hold a date without a deposit and contract.

Q. How long does each appointment take?

A. For hair and makeup trial runs, we book one hour per service to have time to ask questions, review images, and answer questions you may have. For the day of your wedding or event, hair and makeup appointments are scheduled for 45 minutes each. Our artists typically arrive 15 minutes prior to the first appointment for set up, and stay 15-30 minutes after the last appointment for any touchups that may be needed.

Q. Can you help me with coordinating my wedding day timeline?

A. Of course! Once all of the services have been decided upon, we make sure that your timeline will be tailored to your wedding day needs.

Q. Do I need to supply any of my own products?

A. Our artists provide everything you need for the initial application. Touch ups after the artists leave will require you to have your own product like lipstick, powder or hairspray. Your artist can recommend touch-up products for you during your trial run.
